Xiaomi Smart Band 9 is the classic Xiaomi smartband, but a little better than the previous generation. A phrase that should not sound ominous, because after all, that’s okay: it costs the same as the Band 8 and offers small improvements in every aspect. There continue to be historical shortcomings, starting with NFC, but the initial spirit of the Xiaomi Smart Band series is maintained: lots of features, very compact body, very low price.
Let’s start with the screen, the 1.62-inch AMOLED display offers a maximum brightness of 1,200 nits, double that of the previous model, ensuring optimal visibility even in bright light. The 233 mAh battery goes hand in hand with it and provides a battery life of up to 21 days, exceeding the Smart Band 8 by five days without increasing the size of the device.
Despite the improvements, the Smart Band 9 has some critical aspects. The provided TPU strap may be less durable, and the user interface appears overloaded with features, potentially confusing the user. In addition, the lack of NFC limits quick payment options, a feature that is increasingly in demand in today’s market.
If you don’t already have a smartband on your wrist, this is one you absolutely must try otherwise the absence of features such as NFC and GPS may give pause as to whether an upgrade over the previous model is really needed.
